Councilman Coschignano proudly announces

The Town of Oyster Bay and Syosset Chamber of Commerce

1st Annual Free Movie Night in Syosset!

Syosset residents will be able to enjoy a free screening of the movie “Big” on Tuesday August 18th at 7:30 p.m. at the Astoria Plaza in Downtown Syosset, according to Town Councilman Chris J. Coschignano.

The movie, starring the incomparable Tom Hanks, is the result of a collaborative community effort. “Considerable work was put forth by the Town of Oyster Bay and the Syosset Chamber of Commerce to make this 1st Annual Free Movie Night a reality,” said Councilman Coschignano. “It will be a great opportunity for our local residents to enjoy a Free evening of family entertainment with beautiful downtown Syosset providing the perfect backdrop.”

The movie “Big” is a story about young boy who makes a wish at a fairground machine to be big. He wakes up the following morning to find that his wish has been granted and his body has grown older over night. But he is still the same 12 year old kid on the inside. Now he must learn how to cope with the unfamiliar world of grown ups including romance and getting a job.

“The light hearted comedy is the perfect movie for a summer evening with the family,” Councilman Coschignano said. “There will also be music, snacks and refreshments for everyone. Best of all, the Movie is Free.  This is a great opportunity for us to continue to give something back to our community, especially in light of these economic times.”

Councilman Coschignano also acknowledged the hard work of Chamber President Kevin Allison and the generous support of Country Carpets and Rugs, Creative Architectural Millwork, Pomodorino’s Restaurant, Putney Planning Corp and Dantona Industries.

“This is truly a community effort and we’re all looking forward to it,” Councilman Coschignano said. “So, pack up your family, some blankets and some lawn chairs and enjoy the movie under the stars!”
